Obama to speak to workers at Thorngate plant

Monday, May 12, 2008

U.S. Sen. Barack Obama will visit Tuesday with employees of Thorngate Ltd. for a town-hall meeting about the economy, his campaign announced Monday.

The event will be limited to Thorngate employees and those who receive invitations, the campaign said. There will be no public speech or rally to accompany the event.

Obama, an Illinois Democrat, is the front-runner for the Democratic Party presidential nomination. He and U.S. Sen. Hillary Clinton, D-New York, are the in the final stages of a struggle for the delegates needed to secure the nomination.

Obama's visit comes on the same day as the West Virginia primary and one week before the primary in Kentucky.

Obama is expected to highlight differences between himself and Clinton and Sen. John McCain, the expected Republican nominee.

Obama's schedule calls for him to arrive at Thorngate at about 5 p.m.
