Delores M. Streiler, 70, of Jackson passed away Monday, April 28, 2008, at her home.
She was born Dec. 7, 1937, in Point Rest, Mo., daughter of Howard and Sylvia Farrar Hager. She and Melvin "Corky" Streiler were married Jan. 19, 1957. He passed away Sept. 4, 1971.
Delores was born and raised near Perryville, Mo. She was a former member of Calvary Baptist Church in Perryville, where she played the piano and Corky was music director. After moving to Jackson in 1979 she became a member of First Baptist Church.
Delores was the administrative assistant 25 years in the Department of Nursing at Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau. She later was a volunteer at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau, where she was best known for her service in the post surgery waiting room. She loved all kinds of gardening, especially fruits, vegetables and flowers.
Loving survivors include three sons, Ricky (Cindy) Streiler of Scott City, James (Debra) Streiler of Jackson, Ronny (Shari) Streiler of St. Peters, Mo.; two daughters, Deana (Michael) Sharp of Berryville, Ark., Denise (Kenny) Luttrell of Jackson; a brother, Douglas (Cindy) Hager of Kansas City, Mo.; two sisters, Darlene (Norman) Hoehn of Perryville, Betty Akins of Chester, Ill.; 16 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Jerry Streiler, in 1986 and a sister, Evelyn Hale, in 1991.
Friends may call Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the funeral home, with the Rev. Don Estes officiating. Interment will follow in Home Cemetery in Perryville.
