Central falls prey to Northwest rally

Central enjoyed a four-run lead heading to the bottom of the sixth inning Friday.
That's when things fell apart for the Tigers baseball team.
Northwest scored six runs in the sixth and held on for the 9-7 victory.
The loss dropped the Tigers to 4-9 this season.
Tyler Brandt took the loss.
Garrett Stevens went 3-for-4 with a double, while Joe Uhls and Alex Shell each collected two hits in the loss.

Notre Dame 10, Sikeston 8
Mark Himmelberg struck out 10 batters and got plenty of help from his offense as Notre Dame improved to 5-4 this season.
Austin Greer started the homer parade with a three-run shot to left in the first.
Himmelberg got in on the action too with a two-run bomb to right field, padding his team's lead to 8-4.
Jake Pewitt wrapped up the homers barrage with a two-run blast to left.
"Two out of the three were helped by the wind," Notre Dame head coach Jeff Graviett said of the three home runs. "The thing I liked about them is that we hit all of them hard."

Ben Courtois struck out seven and walked six over 3 2/3 innings to earn the win on the mound.
Bryant Steffens smacked a pair of triples in the win.
The Crusaders (5-2) advance to the semifinals of the Oak Ridge tournament, where they face Leopold today at 1 p.m. The game will be played at Saxony.

Cody Kennedy threw all seven innings, struck out five batters and allowed only an infield single to earn the win for the Panthers (1-3).
Meadow Heights advanced to the semifinals of the Oak Ridge tournament, where it will face the host today.

Jace Dye struck out 10 to lead the Blue Jays to a lopsided five-inning victory at the Oak Ridge tournament.
Brett Thomas went 2-for-3 with a homer for Oak Ridge.

The Cubs struck for seven runs in the fourth inning to put away the Braves.
Jeff Long picked up the win, thanks in part to Phillip Gross' three hits.
Caleb Johnson suffered the loss.

Darren VanGennip came in to rescue the Wildcats.
He slammed the door on the Bobcats after Ryan Davis' rocky start. VanGennip struck out seven and walked five to pick up the win.
Wade Wiseman knocked in three runs and Rob Brown drove in two for the Wildcats (2-3) in the Oak Ridge tournament.
Cody Schrum struck out five in a losing effort.
The game was stopped after five innings because of darkness.

The Indians played the Stars to a 1-1 tie in the first half, but St. Teresa's scored twice in the second half.
Bobbi Jo Schlick scored the lone goal for the Indians against one of the top teams in the nation.
