SIKESTON, Mo. -- L.E. King, 82, of Sikeston died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Clearview Nursing Center.
He was born Dec. 27, 1921, in Searcy, Ark., son of Homer Lee and Blanche Anne Pate King Sr. He and Lillian Martha Harder were married Sept. 21, 1940, in Blytheville, Ark. She died Dec. 8, 2001.
King farmed many years. He was a member of Henry Meldrum American Legion Post 114 in Sikeston and First Baptist Church in Canalou, Mo.
He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army.
Survivors include four sons, Billy, Lee Roy "Pete", Jackie and Robert King, all of Sikeston; two brothers, Homer King Jr. of Morley, Mo., Walter King of Sikeston; a sister, Hope Young of Blytheville; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Ponder Funeral Home from 6 to 8 p.m. today.
Graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Garden of Memories Cemetery, with full military rites. The Rev. Scott Sutton will officiate.
