Iraqi insurgents have media ally

To the editor:

A lot has been said about how our soldiers treated a few Iraqi prisoners. The liberal press has reported a whole lot of things negatively.

With all the resources they have for covering the Iraq situation, you would think the media could find at least one instance of our people doing something good over there.

I tend to believe the media ignore these instances because they don't make big headlines and don't fit in with their liberal agenda.

I would be willing to bet that the vast majority of prisoners are not treated in that manner, and the vast majority of our troops behave like Americans and treat the Iraqis with a certain amount of dignity and respect.

Perhaps our free press would like to make a comparison of how our captured soldiers were treated in the initial war.

I cannot condone the treatment those Iraqi prisoners received. Those responsible should face the consequences of their actions. But at least those prisoners are still alive to talk about it.

It seems the Iraqi insurgents have gained a valuable ally: the liberal American media and the obviously slanted coverage they force down everyone's throats.

Journalism like this is going to cost American lives and a whole lot of our tax money and probably make us expend a lot more of our resources than we would have had to expend. But at least the media can keep their advertising dollars coming in.
