Fossils support intelligent design

To the editor:

The author of the "Evolution is not just a theory" letter elevates evolution to be more than "just a theory." Oddly, the quote cited does just the opposite.

The fossil record is quite clear. Many organisms that exist today are exactly as they appear in fossils, no matter how long you believe they have been there. The fossil record shows that many life forms entombed in fossil form have not changed at all or very little. This turns evolution on its head, demonstrating not evolution, but rather the genetic fixity of species. The fossil record is rather a record of both extinction of some species and of preservation of others.

However, transitional forms simply do not exist, although if evolution were true, one should be able to predict a horde of them.

In a poor twist of logic, the fact that human beings beget human beings not identical to either parent was deduced as proof of evolution. I've yet to hear of human parents bearing anything other than human children. This is yet another reminder of the fixity of species.

Evolutionary theory is laced with weaknesses and inaccuracies, not to mention downright fraud in some instances. This is precisely why the push to consider intelligent design makes sense. The incredible design of life that replicates itself in and around us cries out for a Designer.
