Advocates seek end to executions

To the editor:

Can you imagine being wrongfully convicted of murder and sentenced to death under Missouri's death penalty? Can you imagine being innocent and sitting on death row year after year wondering if this year would be your last? That has happened. That is the story of Joe Amrine and Kevin Green, who are advocating for a moratorium on the death penalty in Missouri. Evidence suggests that two or three innocent people have been executed by the state. The death penalty is highly discriminatory against blacks and other minorities, and it is costly to the taxpayers of Missouri. How can Missourians continue to support this institution? Come hear Joe and Kevin speak at a public forum 7 p.m. Monday at the Osage Centre.
