'Passion' has enormous impact

To the editor:

When I saw "Saving Private Ryan," I was in trauma for three hours. Then I saw "The Passion of the Christ." The movie is a marvel. I went to the late showing and went home humbly silent. I went to bed at 4:30 a.m. It was like time stopped.

Look at the faces of the people when they realized that Jesus was indeed the Christ. Look at the face of the soldier whose ear was cut off. Do you remember? When Pilate said, "Behold the man!" -- do you remember that?

Jesus Christ is my Lord and Savior. I proclaim this. A friend said if any well-known evangelist had made this movie, the world would have said it's just another church movie. Mel Gibson had the courage to make this movie not for his glory but for the glory of God and his son Jesus Christ. People may scoff at Gibson, but the reality is God does not mess around when it comes to using his name.

I am an imperfect vessel saved by the grace of God, and in the movie you see what Jesus did for all of us.
