Tigers blank Kennett 3-0 in season debut

Garrett Stevens pitched Central past Kennett in the baseball season opener for both teams Monday.

Stevens struck out four and allowed one hit for the Tigers. Two other Central pitchers finished the shutout.

Alex Shell recorded a double in the win.

Saxony Lutheran 6, East Prairie 1

Chris Roth struck out seven over 5 2/3 innings to help the Crusaders win their season opener.

Saxony Lutheran used a Max Wieser bunt, then singles from Garrett Fritsche and Ben Courtois to score two runs.

The Crusaders added four runs in the seventh to put the game out of reach. All seven of Saxony's hits in the game were singles.
