Jackson food pantry needs help

To the editor:

We would like to thank the community of Jackson. The task of the Jackson Ministerial Alliance is to share the gospel of Jesus Christ by helping those in need. No single church can do this alone.

There are volunteers who go the extra mile by offering their time as food pantry workers. We are thankful to the Boy Scouts and the post office for their food drives and to the owners who allow food drives in their businesses. And we cannot leave out all the churches who collect and drop off food every month. This last year was hard on our community. The May tornado left a destructive path not only through land and buildings, but also through emotions and relationships. We have been blessed by a giving community. We still need people to volunteer. We can always use cash donations. And we appreciate the canned goods.

If anyone wants to buy food to donate, we offer this list as a guide: Apple juice, sugar, flour, cooking oil, beef stew, chili, Spam, pancake mix, syrup, creamy peanut butter and grape jelly.

Any donations may be dropped off between 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and until noon on Friday at 225 S. High St. in Jackson. If you need help with the pickup of food, please call 243-8487 and ask for Kim or Pastor Dan Usher.

Again, a big thank you from the ministerial alliance.

The REV. DAN USHER
