Show Me Center sells out Thursday concert

The bands with Three Days Grace, Breaking Benjamin, Seether and HURT played in front of a crowd of 6,597 Thursday night, making the show a sell-out for the Show Me Center The sell-out came despite icy weather conditions that impaired travel around the area.

Cape school board meets Monday evening

The Cape Girardeau School Board will meet at 6 p.m. Monday in the administrative offices at 301 N. Clark Ave. Business items are: approval to rescind motion for external audit, approval of 2007 to 2008 budget amendment, approval for renovation of metal buildings, consideration for moving industrial technology department and approval of Premier Fire Protection Co. for renovations to the Alternative Education Center.

Bernie man killed in car-train crash Thursday

BERNIE, Mo. -- A Bernie man was killed late Thursday night when his truck was hit by a train one mile south of Bernie. Kevin G. Hunt, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene Thursday night by Stoddard County Coroner Morgan Sifford. Hunt was killed when the truck he was driving stopped on railroad tracks on County Road 784. The crossing was equipped with flashing signals, bells and a cross arm.
