OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- The Illinois State Police released the name of the man who spent Wednesday night engaged in a 14-hour standoff with police in Olive Branch, Ill.
Rodney J. Petermichel, 42, of Olive Branch, was arrested at 7:10 a.m. at a West Street home, where he had barricaded himself inside with a gun, Trooper Bridget Rice of the Illinois State Police said.
The state police were called to assist the Alexander County Sheriff's Office around 5:15 p.m. Wednesday, after a call to check on the welfare of Petermichel ended in the man refusing repeated requests to surrender.
When Petermichel emerged from the residence Thursday morning, after hours spent talking with hostage negotiators, officers arrested him and transported him to Tri-County Correctional Center in Ullin, Ill.
