Welker named new Cape superintendent

Dr. James Welker, currently assistant superintendent of finance in Jackson, has been named Cape Girardeau's new superintendent. He will be paid $135,000 for the first year of his three year contract.

Jim Welker is a man of integrity who, I believe, will restore people's trust in the administration. I just hope that people remember it can take awhile for a new superintendent to acclimate himself to a new district and that changes, if necessary, may take time.
