Letter to the Editor

If it was offensive, why show it so often as news?

To the editor:

Mike Smythe's in culpa non sum letter was ludicrous. If the TV exposure during the Super Bowl was "at odds with our [KFVS12's] standards," why was it shown three times in one newscast (teaser, news and sports slots)? And twice in each of two later newscasts?

When I realized the halftime show was a fertility ritual, I turned it off, already offended by the groping and grabbing. It was pretty much the same as other performances shown for the X-ed-out generation I have seen. Smythe certainly had an idea as to what the content of the show would be unless he is so isolated from the current youth culture as to be unfit to judge it.

So far as CBS having "too much to lose" goes, when one considers the network's daytime porno-casts and the evening gross-outs, there is greater astonishment in their commentators mentioning the rip-off than in its live airing.
