David C. Ware, 70, of Des Moines, Iowa, died Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2004, at Mercy Hospital in Des Moines.
He was born Nov. 20, 1933, in St. Louis, son of Richard M. and Ina Ware. He and Donna Weston were married Feb. 12, 1972, in Indianola, Iowa.
Ware was formerly of Cape Girardeau and attended Trinity Lutheran School and was a 1953 graduate of Central High School.
He was a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam wars, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1959 to 1976.
Ware was employed several years by Maytag Corp. in Newton, Iowa. He then worked 26 years for the Department of Natural Resources in Iowa, retiring two years ago.
He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include two daughters, Christina Dugan and Melinda Stratton; a stepdaughter, Ann Diemer; a sister, Donna Spidle, all of Des Moines; two stepsisters, Jo Ann Bock and Kathryn Jolls of Cape Girardeau; six grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, father, stepmother and a stepbrother.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. today at Peterson Funeral Home in Indianola. Burial will be in Indianola IOOF Cemetery.
