William B. "Ben" Nolen, 19, of Jackson, pleaded guilty Monday in Cape Girardeau County Circuit Court to possession and sharing child pornography. Deputies arrested Nolen Aug. 13 after an eight-month investigation prompted by the U.S. Customs Service, which has an Internet crime division. Investigators seized several computers and disks and found hundreds of image files and digital video files containing child pornography. Nolen was using Kazaa file-sharing software. He was originally charged with 12 felony counts of first-degree promoting child pornography and one misdemeanor of possession of child pornography. As part of a plea agreement, Nolen pleaded to just one felony and the misdemeanor. Judge William Syler sentenced Nolen to six months in jail for the misdemeanor and placed him on five years probation for the felony.
