Emerson supports role of radio

To the editor:I would like to applaud the leadership shown by U.S. Rep. Jo Ann Emerson in co-sponsoring the Local Radio Freedom Act.

This resolution acknowledges the important role local radio serves in not only promoting new music and artists, but also in promoting the community as a whole.

Public service announcements, fundraising drives, special programming and local news are just a few of the ways radio helps people get the information they need about the world around them -- all for free.

A performance fee would hurt local radio and the community, and Congresswoman Emerson's leadership will help protect that from happening.
