Friday, November 9, 2007

Former Cape Girardeau public information officer Tracey Glenn on Thursday was named vice president for organization and leadership development for the Cape Girardeau Area Chamber of Commerce.

Glenn, who held the city job from July 1997 to January, left a post with the Missouri Chamber of Commerce and Industry, where she was director of conference development, to take the newly created position.

The Cape Girardeau chamber has four divisions -- economic development, under president and chief executive officer John Mehner, community development led by vice president Tim Arbeiter, tourism under Convention and Visitors Bureau executive director Chuck Martin and the newly established division of organization and leadership development. Glenn will be responsible for membership recruitment and retention, and serve as staff liaison to several chamber committees.

"I look forward to being part of one of the strongest chambers in the state of Missouri and working with the dedicated staff and volunteers to make it even stronger," Glenn said in a prepared statement.

In the statement announcing the move, Mehner said Glenn brings strong attributes including talent and passion for the Cape Girardeau area to the new post.
