Commander visit

Cape Girardeau hosted another Commander Owners Group Rally earlier this month. The group is made up of Commander airplane owners who meet regularly on Internet boards and much less regularly in person.

This was the second year in a row the organization held its meeting in Cape Girardeau. The first meeting was prompted by the move of Commander's parts, service and manufacturing operations to a city-owned hangar at Cape Girardeau Regional Airport. The Commander is a single-engine, four-seat plane.

The members typically meet at a different city every year, but they liked the Cape Girardeau area so much after the first visit that they decided to make Cape Girardeau their fly-in destination again. The pilots attended seminars, a reception, workshops and an awards banquet during the two-day event.

The fact that the owners chose to hold their annual meeting in Cape Girardeau is a good sign of the company's commitment to Cape Girardeau. It's also a good sign of the city's hospitality when groups like that come here for get-togethers.
