Jackson city officials will meet this week with representatives of the Federal Emergency Management Agency and the State Emergency Management Agency to discuss the latest flood hazard maps for the city.
The meeting will be at 10:30 a.m. in the board of aldermen chambers in city hall, 101 Court St. The city is inviting the public, especially representatives of civic organizations, lending institutions and insurance companies, as well as property owners. The meeting will discuss preliminary results of the latest flood insurance study and flood insurance rate maps.
The maps show which properties are considered to be in flood-hazard areas. Most lending institutions require flood insurance before making loans on property in areas prone to flooding.
