John W. Allen, 78, of Jackson passed away Monday, Sept. 17, 2007, at his home.
He was born April 8, 1929, in Stilwell, Okla., son of the late Edward W. and Eva (Carlisle) Allen. He and Francisca Alfar were married Dec. 26, 1952, in the Philippines.
John was a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a radioman and engineer.
He was a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Pinatubu Masonic Lodge in the Philippines.
Loving survivors include three sons, Eliseo "Butch" Allen of Oakland, Calif., Kerry A. Allen of Jackson, Edward M. Allen of Daytona, Fla.; three daughters, Ludi Headrick of Jackson, Eva Allen-Pade of Orlando, Fla., Amparro Allen-Lee of Chicago; three nieces and a nephew whom John and Francisca raised, Sally, Tessie, Men-Men and Chuck; 10 grandchildren, Karen Allen, Chris Allen, Jenna Marie Flores, Krista Marie Allen, Edward Marciano Allen Jr., Brian L. Asher, Cynthia Jean Allen, Leilani Davis, Roxanne Roxas, Augisto Allen; and seven great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is a sister-in-law, Georgia; two cousins, Cy and Billie; nieces and nephews, Linda, Joyce, Karen, Ernest Jr., Linda G., Kathryn, Donna, Aurora; and two dear friends, Doug and Mary.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest Allen Sr.
The family suggests memorials to the American Lung Association.
Services are private, with McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson in charge of arrangements.
