Oak Ridge to get sewer system for 105 homes

Saturday, September 15, 2007

Oak Ridge will be able to provide sewage service to 105 homes and the Oak Ridge School District with the help of a $52,000 federal loan, U.S. Sen. Claire McCaskill announced this week. The loan, from the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Office of Rural Development, will provide the village with its first centralized sewage collection system. The residents use septic systems or individual lagoons to treat waste water. McCaskill said the program providing the funds helps provide a good standard of living in rural areas. Competitive loans are preferable to earmarks from members of Congress, she said.
