History, bridge books available today

Friday, December 19, 2003

Those who missed out on the Southeast Missourian's "Faces and Places" historical photo book and Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge commemorative book will have a special opportunity to get them from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. today at the newspaper's offices, 301 Broadway in Cape Girardeau and 104 S. Hope St. in Jackson.

"Faces and Places" and an accompanying CD are packed with hundreds of historic photos taken in and around Cape Girardeau and submitted by the public. Charline Caldwell submitted one of a pilot friend and two of her classmates posing during World War II.

"The book brought back lots of memories," she said. "I knew a majority of the people in it."

The commemorative bridge book features panoramic photos of the Bill Emerson Memorial Bridge taken by several local photographers.

During today's special sale, the bridge book will be available for $7 -- regularly $10 -- or free with the purchase of "Faces and Places" or a year's subscription to the Southeast Missourian. For more information, call projects manager Carol Robert at 335-6611, ext. 106.
