MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Juanita Brown, 80, of Marble Hill died Thursday, Aug. 30, 2007, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 2, 1927, in Bessville, Mo., daughter of P.F. and Della Caroline Robins Rhodes. She and Wilford Brown were married Sept. 24, 1949 at Lutesville, Mo. He preceded her in death May 17, 2007.
Brown was a well-known, talented seamstress in the Marble Hill area. She was also a funeral director in Bollinger County, working for Baker Funeral Home and Hutchings Funeral Chapel. She retired from funeral directing in 2005.
Brown worked as an EMT with her husband, operating the first Bollinger County ambulance service. She was a member of Eastern Star, Marble Hill Victory Chapter 431 and a member of Hahn's Chapel General Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Robert P. Brown (Debi) of Jackson, Mo.; a stepson, Derek Brown of Edinburgh, Scotland; three brothers, Winfred, Charles and Clayton Rhodes, all of Marble Hill; two sisters, Anna Mae Irvin of Marble Hill, Ruby Fuller of Rockport, Ill.; a granddaughter, Becky Deck (Johnathan) of Glenallen, Mo.; step grandchildren, Matt Zschille (Karrie) of Jackson, Christi Peters (Keith) of St. Louis; a great-grandson, Tucker Deck; a step great-granddaughter, Sydney Peters.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three brothers.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill.
Funeral is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Gerald Huff officiating.
Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
