Look to Bible for guidance on leaf burning

To the editor:

You can find a solution to any problem, but sometimes the solutions do not always come out the way we want them to or to our own advantage.

The answers are revealed in the Bible. You may not see them even after years of reading the Scriptures. Many answers can be found in Proverbs.

While reading the verses, put yourself in the place of the person the Scriptures are written about, not as the person writing them. You will find very interesting reading if you will take the time to study this book.

Recently I've been reading Speak Out comments about burning leaves. There is no reason for anyone to burn leaves. Most everyone who has a yard has a lawn mower. The leaves can be ground up into small pieces. The result is some of the best fertilizer for your lawn. Chopped up leaves also makes good mulch for a garden of flower beds.

How have I made a connection between burning leaves and the Bible? Here is the answer: "Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out." Proverbs 26:20. In other words, don't create the smoke by burning leaves.
