Letter to the Editor

Jack Stapleton is remembered for his knowledge

To the editor:

The beautiful words of praise for Jack Stapleton in the Southeast Missourian could not have been more fitting or more commendable. The nation has lost a fine citizen and a man of extraordinary knowledge, courage and interests. His loss will be felt for a long time.

Stapleton's interests were so many that they knew no end. His understanding and concern for the mentally ill was unsurpassed. This became his major interest in later years.

He was often sought out for advice on treatment for the mentally afflicted.

My uncle, who lived in Kennett, Mo., many years ago, knew the Stapleton family quite well. He often spoke of them as being modest, generous, loved and an asset to the community.

Many valued Stapleton's political knowledge as well.

Stapleton gave much and expected little in return. My sincere words of sympathy are wished for the dear and beloved family of Jack Stapleton, whose memory will never die but will live on and on.
