Make the monument prominent

To the editor:All the recent meetings and talk about a new monument being pushed by the Vietnam veterans is long past due.

But the placing of the monument is being pushed so it would be hidden somewhere on the Common Pleas Courthouse lawn or in North County Park.

Neither of these places can be seen by the public. This adds insult to injury to the already disgraced Vietnam veterans by the left-wing politicians and the anti-American media.

The best place to put this monument, in my opinion, is someplace where Cape Girardeau County can be proud of it and show our respect for these veterans.

The grounds of the Missouri Veterans Home is perfect. Here it can be seen by all county residents and anyone going up Kingshighway and along I-55.

Let's put this monument out for public display. Don't hide it in some dark corner or someplace in the park where few people can see it.

Let's be proud of it and let the rest of the country know that Cape Girardeau County wants to show its respect, not hide it.
