MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Elzie Long, 75, of Marble Hill died Thursday, July 19, 2007, at his home.

He was born Dec. 10, 1931, at Hurricane, Mo., son of Jonas Elzie and Nancy Elizabeth Garland Long. He and Mary Cook were married Jan. 8, 1955.

Long was a foreman at Lutesville Pallet Co., and a member of Hurricane Fork General Baptist Church.

He served in the military during the Korean War.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Elzie "Wayne," David, Bradley and Wendell Long, all of Marble Hill; two daughters, Rose Welker of Fenton, Mo., Kay Meek of Marble Hill; a brother, Junior Long of Grassy, Mo.; three sisters, Opal Fulbright of Marble Hill, Juanita Long and Martha Compas of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill and from 9 a.m. to service time Saturday at Hurricane Fork Church.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. at the church, with the Revs. Steve Sander and Jimmie Fulbright officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
