* In Tuesday's story about a proposed tax increase in Cape Girardeau, Mike Keefe, chairman of Cape Girardeau's park and recreation advisory board, should have been quoted as saying the phrase "family aquatic center" is being perceived as a commercial-style water park, but plans call for a small facility. Keefe also said, "Nobody wants more taxes, but at the same time, what are you willing to pay for?" Keefe also cited statistics for parks use, saying more individuals, on average, use city parks than interact with the police or fire department on a daily basis. He asked to clarify that comment. "No one is saying the police and fire departments aren't important," Keefe said in a phone interview Wednesday. "Frankly, they are more important for our safety. But when you're talking about people using facilities, on average, 3,000 people use our parks per day."
