Forest fire

On Sunday, June 24, a forest fire blazed near the home of Cape Girardeau native Sarah (Turner) Mello in South Lake Tahoe, Calif. Accorrding to Mello, the fire began around 2 p.m. Sunday, causing numerous homes to be evacuated and threatening a nearby high school. As of today, Mello said, more than 2500 acres have burned, 300 homes have been destroyed and the fire is only 5 percent contained.
