Scott City Summerfest begins today at 4 p.m.

The annual Scott City Summerfest will begin today and continue Saturday, with the fairgrounds opening each day at 4 p.m. A parade down Scott City's Main Street will kick off the Saturday festivities at 3:30 p.m. Events include a karaoke contest, talent contest, washers tournament, beauty pageants, a concert by Mojo Filter and a fireworks display to cap off the festival Saturday night. Pockets to hold DeWolf tribute concert

Pockets on Independence Street will hold a tribute concert for deceased Drivin' Rain guitarist Tommy DeWolf starting at 7 p.m. June 9. Bands on the bill include Slow Riot, 9th Life and the Stella Blue Band. Raffles and door prizes will be available and Drivin' Rain will be selling its new disc "Delightfully Evil," unfinished at the time of DeWolf's death.

Napoleon artifacts to go on display in St. Louis

ST. LOUIS -- An exhibition of the decorative arts of France during the time of Napoleon will be on display at the St. Louis Art Museum starting June 17. The exhibit, called "Symbols of Power: Napoleon and the Art of the Empire Style, 1800-1815," is labeled a "definitive survey of the decorative arts of the Empire style created during the reign of Napoleon Bonaparte." More seats released for McBride concert

Production plans have been finalized for Martina McBride's Thursday Show Me Center appearance with Little Big Town and promoters have opened more arena seats to the public. Carson Center unveils 2007-2008 season

PADUCAH, Ky. -- The Luther F. Carson Four Rivers Center in Paducah has announced dates for its 2007-2008 Broadway at the River Season. Shows this season include "Evita," Sept. 21 through 22; "Defending the Caveman," Oct. 30 through Nov. 4; "Mark Twain Tonight," Nov. 13; "Movin' Out," Jan. 18 and 23; "Annie," Feb. 19 and 20; "Chicago," March 7 and 8; Mannheim Steamroller, April 1; and "Jesus Christ Superstar," April 29 and 30. Monte Montgomery to play at Dexter

DEXTER, Mo. -- Renowned guitarist and recording artist Monte Montgomery will perform a free concert at 6 p.m. June 16 at the Dexter Music Center in Dexter. Montgomery's performance will be the centerpiece of a three-day concert at the center featuring guitarists who have worked with David Lee Roth, Motley Crue and Ratt. Writers Guild workshop at Barnes & Noble

Cape, Jackson municipal bands begin next week

The Cape Girardeau and Jackson municipal bands will begin their summer concert series Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. The Cape Girardeau Municipal Band will perform at 8 p.m. every Wednesday this summer at the Capaha Park Bandshell. The Jackson Municipal Band will perform at 8 p.m. every Thursday at the Jackson City Park Bandshell.
