Jackson girls win Poplar Bluff meet

Jackson senior Rachel Kahle won four events to lead the Indians' girls track team to a win at the eight-team Poplar Bluff Invitational on Friday.

Kahle, all-state in the 100 and 200 last year, won the 100, 200, long jump and triple jump. Teammate Heather Hileman won both hurdle events along with the high jump.

Scott City freshman Stephanie Essner was first in the 400 and finished behind Kahle in the 100.

Central's boys were victorious thanks to a sweep of the relay events. The Tigers also got a pair of wins from Tyler Terry in the long jump and triple jump.

Jefferson County Conference Meet

Brittney Castleberry won a pair of events for Perryville at the Jefferson County Conference Meet.

Castleberry won the 100 and 300 hurdles and finished second in the 100.

Cassie Lawrence set a school record in the pole vault with a vault of 8 feet, 7 inches.

Kris Cottner was first in the 400 and second in the 100 and 200 on the boys side.

GIRLS SOCCERPerryville Invitational

St. Vincent and Jackson will meet for the second time this week after posting semifinal wins at the Perryville Soccer Invitational.

The finals are at noon today. St. Vincent beat Jackson 2-1 at Jackson on Wednesday.

Jackson knocked off host Perryville 4-1 to earn a berth in the finals. The Indians trailed 1-0 at halftime, but rallied back with a pair of goals each from Randi Kraust and Chelsea Dale.

Dale, Emily Dietl and Katelyn Myracle had assists. Morgan Riddick was in goal for the second straight game for the short-handed Indians (9-2-1) and came up with a key save on a penalty kick.

Alicia Kueker scored on an assist from Kendra Schilli for the Pirates (9-7).

St. Vincent earned its way into the finals with an 8-0 rout of Fredericktown. Rachel Sutterer and Brooke Brown had two goals apiece for the Indians (14-2).

Liz Brueckner, Liz Rozier, Morgan Moll and Kailyn Petzodlt added goals. Courtney Besand had two assists, and Sara Moll and Jessica Welker added assists.

Megan Wengert made five saves for her 11th shutout for the Indians.

GOLFWindsor 160, St. Vincent 171

St. Vincent dropped its first conference dual of the season in a meeting of the two leaders in the Jefferson County Conference.

The Indians fell to 6-1 in conference play and 8-2 overall.

Corey Brueckner led the Indians with a 39, Zach Richardet shot 43, Brandon Trapp shot 44 and David Rhoden shot a 45.

SOFTBALLOran 5, Scott City 1

Callie Kielhofner improved to 10-1 on the mound in the completion of a suspended game.

Jodi Urhahn went 2-for-4 in the win while Lindsey Hadley went 2-for-3 for the Rams.

OTHER RESULTS

* Perryville's girls junior varsity track team won the Jefferson County Conference meet. Emily Westmoreland won two events (800 and 1,600), as did Casey Brewer (shot put and discus). Lani Buerck won the 100 hurdles, and the Pirates also won the 1,600 relay.

Perryville's boys were third. Clay Pinsanor (110 hurdles) and Chris Koesterer (pole vault) won events for the Pirates.
