St. Vincent edges Jackson in soccer

Courtney Besand scored 1 minute into the game and then added another goal to lead St. Vincent to a 2-1 victory over Jackson in a girls soccer game Wednesday night.

Brooke Brown assisted on one of Besand's goals for the Indians (12-2). Megan Wengert made 10 saves in goal.

Chelsey Dale netted the lone goal for Jackson.

Notre Dame 5, Sikeston 1

Meridith Medlin scored two goals to help propel the Bulldogs to the victory.

Brooke Beussink, Jordan Radetic and Courtney Luehmann added a goal apiece in the win.

Mindy Siebert finished with three assists for the Bulldogs (10-2-1).

BASEBALLScott City 26, Delta 2

Rynn Eskew went 3-for-4 and drove in seven runs at the plate and struck out eight in three innings to pick up the win for the Rams (10-5).

Ryan Modglin and Cody Dirnberger both knocked in four runs. Cody Carlyle drove in three.

Leopold struck for 10 runs in the first inning and cruised to the victory.

Sarah Blattel went 2-for-4 and knocked in a run to help Delta roll past the Rams in Scott City, because Delta's field was too wet.

Kendra Burnett improved to 10-2 on the mound with five strikeouts and two walks.

Brandon Pleimann led Notre Dame with a 46 and Clay Obergoenner was Saxony Lutheran's top finisher with a 42.

T.J. Smith had the low round for Jackson, a 37. Rounding out the scoring for the Indians were A.J. Balsman (38), John Moreland (46), Brian Hill (50) and Trent Weaver had (50).

It was Jackson's first loss of the season in a dual meet.


The Central junior varsity girls track team took first place at its own invitational while the boys team took second.
