Chaffee's balanced attack outpoints Saxony Lutheran

The Chaffee boys track and field team used a balanced scoring attack to get past last year's Class 1 runner-up, Saxony Lutheran, in an eight-team meet Wednesday at Chaffee.

Collin Dannenmueller won the 400 meters for the Red Devils, Trenton Horman won the high jump and Dylan McAlister won the triple jump.

Saxony Lutheran, which finished nearly 30 points behind host Chaffee with 125 points, picked up wins from Brandon Etzold in the 1,600 and 800. Saxony also won the 1,600 relay, 3,200 relay and 800 relay. Alex Jauch added a win in the 300 hurdles.

Chaffee's girls were also victorious. Amber Kirk took second place in the discuss and third place in the shot put, while Whitney Schlosser placed first in the discuss and fourth in the shot put for Chaffee.

Notre Dame 4, Perryville 0

Notre Dame stomped Perryville for its fifth straight victory.

Meridith Medlin scored two second-half goals after Destiny Dirnberger and Mindy Siebert had first-half goals.

Siebert, Courtney Luehmann and Taylor Sanders each had an assist for the Bulldogs (9-2).

"I was really pleased with how we finished," Notre Dame coach Jeff Worley said.

Claudia Brauss recorded the shutout, turning aside 15 shots.

JV -- Notre Dame won 1-0.

BASEBALLScott City 7,East Prairie 6, 9 inn.

Ryan Modglin drove in the winning run and picked up the win for Scott City as they defeated East Prairie in nine innings.

Rynn Eskew homered for the Rams (5-5). Modglin, Clayton Hall, and Cody Page each had multiple hits.

Josh Henson pitched 5 1/3 innings, striking out three batters and allowing three earned runs.

Slattery was 3-for-5 with a home run, double and triple.

Joe Uhls, Brooks Osburn and Matt Hester added two hits apiece for the Tigers. Kory Kitchen had a home run.

Central (9-4) starter Justin Myers allowed three earned runs and four hits in five innings for the win. The Tigers moved to 6-1 in the SEMO Conference.

Dallas Tew had a two-run home run for the Hawks.
