Top educators

Every year, the Cape Girardeau and Jackson chambers of commerce honor public, private and parochial school teachers who excel in the classroom or as administrators. The educators of the year are chosen by business leaders and recognized for the important role teachers play in the health of the community.

This year, the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce chose Sydney Herbst, Ruth Ann Orr, Monica Parson, Mary Ann Stamp and Mary V. Moore Johnson. The Jackson Chamber of Commerce picked Sally Lipke, Carole Baugh, Dan Brown, David Brummel, Julie Walker and Kelly Crawford.

In each city, more than 50 educators were nominated for the award. These special teachers' students and communities are the fortunate beneficiaries of their skills and dedication.
