Oak Ridge slips past Panthers

Hannah Sedgwick struck out nine and walked two to lead Oak Ridge past Meadow Heights 8-6 in softball action Thursday.

Sedgwick also went 3-for-3 at the plate and knocked in two runs in thewin at home.

Meadow Heights opened a four-run lead in the first inning, but surrendered four in the second and two more in the third.

Emily Essner pitched seven innings, allowed two earned runs on four hits and struck out seven batters en route to Scott City's road romp over Dexter.

The Rams (5-1) belted out 13 hits.

Adam Urhahn and Chris Hanback combined for a three-hit shutout as Chaffee won at home.

The duo also combined for 13 strikeouts. Urhahn struck out 10 and allowed three hits over the first six innings, while Hanback fanned three in a hitless seventh inning.

Adam Horton provided three RBIs, which included a two-run single in a three-run second inning.

Dexter 3, Scott City 2

Dexter squeezed home the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning to knock off the Rams.

Scott City clung to a one-run lead heading into the final inning, but Dexter managed two runs to earn the victory.

Blake Dirnberger pitched three innings, allowed six hits and two earned runs for the Rams.

Cody Carlyle went 3-for-4 with a double for Scott City (3-3).

Ethan Sachs helped his own cause with a pair of hits and picked up the win on the mound for host Oak Ridge.

Meadow Heights rallied for five runs in the sixth to pull within three runs, but that was as close as it would get.

Perryville 3, Farmington 1

Becca Hanquist netted two goals and Ashley Castleberry added another goal and an assist as Perryville (5-3) posted a home win against Farmington.

Alicia Kueker tallied an assist and Chelsey Marr added two assists.

Chastity Marr saved six shots for Perryville.

The Chaffee boys took home first place with a total of 150 points in the seven-team meet.

The Chaffee girls team tallied 85 points, finishing in third place.
