Get out of Iraq and concentrate on our borders

To the editor:

We invaded Iraq and committed ourselves for the long term while thumbing our noses at the United Nations. When President Bush realized he was in way over his head, he asked for help. Now he is wondering why there is such a negative response.

Bush is delusional at best. He is a rich kid used to getting his way even when he goes against authority. Now he wants to bottom out our economy by continuing to police a country that doesn't want us there, doesn't have a clue how to set up the democracy and puts our soldiers at continued risk. Don't forget the billions` of dollars he wants to do this with.

The only businesses that will benefit are the ones that make wartime machinery and the undertakers.

Policing the world for terrorists needs to stop. We need to concentrate on what we can control: our own borders. Engage Mexico and Canada to curb the influx of undesirables. Confer with both countries to explore ways to eliminate laws governing immigration that would benefit them economically. Help them track down and deport known terrorists. By putting money into shoring up our borders and our security, we will provide the best opportunity to stave off terrorists' attacks.

I say set a deadline on getting our troops home and stick to it. Write to your senators and representatives. I did.
