Questions about FAA decision

To the editor:I find it hard to reconcile the fact that RegionsAir is unsafe. For a decade the airline has been deemed safe by the FAA, yet a couple of weeks ago it was unsafe for two days. Suddenly the airline was safe again, but only for a week. Now the airline is shut down for 120 days, causing severe hardship upon thousands of Missouri travelers, not to mention the employees.

As a retired airline pilot, I have seen numerous occasions of lapses in bureaucratic judgment. Is this a case of T's not crossed or I's not dotted? Should a pilot have a lapse of judgment, the FAA fine is $10,000 and three to six months off of work. Shouldn't a bureaucrat be held to a similar standard? Why doesn't the FAA explain to the public the concerns it has with RegionsAir and not hide under the guise of anonymity?
