Letter to the Editor

Americans won't be fooled by propaganda

To the editor:

As the anniversary of Sept. 11, 2001, approaches, it is important that we never forget the 3,000 innocent souls who perished at the hands of terrorists. It is also important that arguments made by the anti-war minority be supported by fact.

A recent letter by Marcus Bond stated that our war in Iraq lacked sufficient evidence and those who support the war are simply fulfilling a "bloodlust. "That statement is blatantly false. The facts not only show links between al-Qaida and Iraq, but they also show Iraqi money and Iraqi training being used to support al-Qaida terrorists. The facts are so solid that on May 7, 2003, U.S. District Judge Harold Baer ruled that the twin towers survivors had presented enough evidence to be awarded $104 million in damages against the state of Iraq, Osama bin Laden and al-Qaida.

Reports in numerous newspapers in April 2003 showed direct links between al-Qaida operatives and Iraqi intelligence officers. This clear evidence is why 70 percent of the country supported the president's actions and why the anti-war left is now resorting to lies and propaganda to spread their message. They simply hate our president for political reasons not based in fact. The American people are wise to their intentions and will vote appropriately in 2004.
