PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Clyde A. Hotop, 71, of Perryville, died Thursday, March 1, 2007, at Perry County Nursing Home.
He was born June 23, 1935, in Perry County, son of Alphonse A. and Rose Welker Hotop. He and Janet Pott were married on Oct. 3, 1959.
Hotop worked for 20 years as a barber in St. Louis and Biehle, Mo., and 21 years as an American Family Insurance agent before retiring from the company. He was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church in Perryville; a past third-degree member of the Knights of Columbus; a past chairman and member of the Southeast Missouri Private Industry Council; a member of the Perryville Development Corporation and the Perryville Board of Education; a past PTO president; and a real estate broker and appraiser.
Hotop was also involved with the First Act Theater Productions and St. Vincent Variety Show and served eight years in the National Guard and Army Reserve.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Lorna Gibbar of Perryville and Lisa Kertz of Bloomsdale, Mo.; five sons, Danny Hotop and Timothy Hotop of St. Louis, Dale and Chris Hotop of Kansas City and Dean Hotop of San Jose, Calif.; three brothers, Rueben Hotop of Silver Lake, Mo., Herbert Hotop of Perryville and Robert Hotop of Cape Girardeau; and eight grandchildren.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Young and Sons Funeral Home in Perryville. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, with a Catholic wake at 7 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The Rev. Kevin Fausz will officiate, with burial at Mount Hope Cemetery.
