Restore honor to politics

To the editor:Some state representatives in Jefferson City are more concerned with retribution for partisan disagreements about legislation than with adhering to the law. When Jessica's Law passed last year, state Rep. Scott Lipke ensured the passage of a strong sexual offender bill while adhering to the ruling of the U.S. Supreme Court by removing the language criminalizing consensual sexual acts between two adults of the same gender.

Legislators reach compromises every day in Jefferson City. However, this particular compromise did not meet the standards of the Republican leadership, who didn't even bother to read the bill before it passed. I'm tired of being told that I need to take personal responsibility for my actions when it is clear that House Speaker Rod Jetton refuses to take personal responsibility for his own voting record. Jetton needs to bring some honor and respect back to Jefferson City and the political process in Missouri.
