Letter to the Editor

Use your eyes, ears and voice

To the editor:Shame on Americans. Only 40 percent of eligible voters participated in the elections last November. Therefore, less than 40 percent condemned our engagement in Iraq. Dubious politicians claim that as a mandate. Because of apathy, only the few speak for all.

Do your personal affairs make you oblivious to the larger scheme of things? Our enemies, foreign and domestic, will overwhelm us through our children, wallets, faith and jobs while leading us to believe they are compassionate about all we hold dear. When Nancy Pelosi trotted innocent children to touch the gavel at the podium, do you believe those children could truly comprehend there were being manipulated? Is that not exploitation of the children, which politicians chatter so much about? I prefer to raise my own children in lieu of the village.

Speaking of hypocrisy, some 3,000 children are aborted daily. Illegal invaders kill about 25 Americans each day. Both easily total much more than we have lost in Iraq. Do you really know your enemies? If indifference prevails, enslavement unwittingly ensues. Many public servants voted into office entrench themselves as elitist shepherds over the bewildered herd.

How long will the middle class blindly pay progressive taxes before realizing how oppressive taxes are? Go ahead, Americans, play the hand you've dealt yourselves, and let the chips fall as they may. God gave you eyes, yet you see not; ears, but listen not; a voice, but many of you remain mute. In so doing, you mock those fighting for our liberties.
