KANSAS CITY, Mo. -- Melba C. Myers, 80, of Kansas City, Mo., formerly of Cape Girardeau, died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2006, at John Knox Village Care Center in Kansas City.
She was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Zalma, Mo. daughter of Harley W. and Clessie M. White Myers.
Melba taught school for several years in Malden, Mo. four years in Jackson and 26 years in Cape Girardeau, with most years as a Spanish teacher. After retirement she worked part time at the Cape Girardeau Public Library. She was a life member of the NEA and MSTA. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral and the Cathedral Ladies.
Survivors include three nieces, Jill Ross Hartzler, Laura Ross, both of Kansas City, Deborah Ross of Middletown, Conn.; a nephew, Capt. Mark L. Ross of Crestview, Fla.
A memorial Mass will be held at 8 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Cathedral, with the Rev. Tom Kiefer officiating.
Interment will follow at Cape County Memorial Park.
Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, the Arthritis Foundation or to the Cape Girardeau Public Library.
