Letter to the Editor

Nov. 7 was a decisive victory

To the editor:Once again Chad Craft's creative imagination has the better of his common sense. The significance of the two Senate independents agreeing to caucus with the Democrats and provide that party control of the Senate seems to have escaped him. The Democratic position clearly reflects the majority view (51-49) in that body.

It seems that Craft does not wish to explore the Project for a New American Century, the right-wing extremists whom he seemingly endorses. Maintaining ignorance of who has been running the government is his choice. But what is most curious about Craft's letter is that he has co-opted Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to his illusion of a conservative victory. He must be the first conservative to claim Pelosi as one of his own.

While Craft is correct when he argues we are at ward, the problem is he fails to understand what PNAC would tell him if he checked them out. The Bush invasion and occupation of Iraq was about the PNAC dream of global domination in the service of U.S. corporate profits.

Everyone who has studied Iraq now agrees: Rather than reducing terrorism, the Bush invasion and occupation have actually promoted the cause of al-Qaida throughout the Middle East.

Because of Bush defenders like Craft, hundreds of thousands of Iraqis and 3,000 Americans are dead. Hundreds of thousands more have been maimed beyond recovery.

Craft should accept that his views are in the minority. Nov. 7 was decisive.
