Woodland, Oran reach semis of Delta tourney

Woodland and Oran rolled to easy victories Tuesday night in the first round of the Delta New Years Tournament.

Woodland built a 16-point by halftime and defeated Chaffee 62-49, while Oran also led by 16 points by halftime as it posted a 55-17 victory over Meadow Heights.

Woodland will face host and top-seeded Delta in the semifinals at 6 p.m. today, while Oran will follow against No. 2 St. Vincent at 7:30 p.m. Delta and St. Vincent both received first-round byes.

Francee VanGennip led Woodland with 21 points and Kayla Choate added 12. Tasha Lincoln and Cortney Glastetter also netted nine points apiece. Amber Kirk led Chaffee with 15 points.

Callie Kielhofner had 16 points and Erica Michelsen had 15 in Oran's blowout. Alyson Seyer and Wendy Eftink each added seven points for the Eagles. Amanda Hendrickson led Meadow Heights with seven points.
