DWI for drugs is a bad idea

To the editor:In response to the story "DWI law for drugs is ridiculous": If any of Cape Girardeau County Prosecuting Attorney Morley Swingle's family members were driving and were to be put in this position, would he make sure they have criminal charges filed against them? Keep in mind all they have to do is swerve a little bit so that an officer thinks they may be drunk, The officer could get them out of their car, field test them and realize they are not drunk. But he would have the power to handcuff them for taking an aspirin that is regulated by the Food and Drug Administration. I feel sorry for the officer who would have to take on that task.

I have never seen a prosecutor's office that delights in sending innocent people to prison over trumped-up charges. What will he think of next?
