Letter to the Editor

We must support a united country

To the editor:With my own opinions and evaluations I would like to set the record straight on this new Rush Limbaugh tirade that has been going on. First of all, I see no reason why we need to continue to smear this man over an admitted drug addiction. We all battle our own demons and need not cast judgment upon another man. Secondly, I think that Rush's latest little cat story is humbling in one way. You see a softer and more gentle Limbaugh.

His one mistake was adding the punch line that his cat's love and affection is the result of giving the cat what it wants and telling his audience that this is teaching him relationships with women. Once again, Rush, you are pushing those soccer moms to the center, if not the left wing. If I compared my relationship to my wife with my relationship to one of our cats, she would probably punch me in the arm. (Not real hard.)

I have much respect for the Limbaugh family. I attend the same church with some of them. I know Rush's brother, David, who seems to be just as far right-wing as his brother. I forgive him for that. We all have our shortcomings. As long as I don't start seeing them wearing military gear around town I won't feel too threatened.

The voice of Missouri rang loud in November. We must continue to support a United States of America, not a Divided States of America.
