Monday, December 4, 2006

While weather prevented the Farmington Invitational boys basketball tournament from finishing out bracket play, Jackson picked up a pair of victories Saturday and was declared the champion with a 3-0 mark.

The Indians knocked off Doniphan 80-74 in their first game Saturday, and came back later that night to beat St. James 61-53.

Normandy was supposed to play in the semifinals Saturday but could not make the trip south.

Jackson overcame a 26-14 first-quarter deficit with a 45-29 second-half scoring edge against Doniphan. Spencer Goodman led the Indians with 20 points, while Jake Leet and Antonio Garritano had 19 apiece.

In the nightcap, Leet led the way with 25 points. Garritano added 12 points for the Indians.
