OLIVE BRANCH, Ill. -- Delphia Jane Duff Schauwecker, 91, of Olive Branch died at 7:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2006, at Ratliff Care Center in Cape Girardeau.
Mrs. Schauwecker was born March 19, 1915, in Benton, Ill., daughter of the late Richard Ernest and Ruth Ethel Dickerson Duff. She married Anton Schauwecker, who preceded her in death Oct. 4, 1974.
She was a member of Olive Branch United Methodist Church.
Mrs. Schauwecker was retired as an occupational therapist with Peoria State Hospital. She was later employed with Illinois Department of Aging. She was an avid gardener and will be long remembered for her interesting and beautiful flower gardens. Until her later years she was an active member of Horseshoe Lake Chamber of Commerce.
She is survived by a son, James Richard Schauwecker of Pekin, Ill.; a sister, Eleanor Duff of Olive Branch; five grandchildren, Rhonda DeHoog of Pekin, Lynette Renee Hegener of Manito, Ill., James Schauwecker Jr. of Pekin, Lisa Rae Fincham of Havana, Ill., Jane Francine Whitaker of Linneus, Mo.; and numerous great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Schauwecker was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a son, Michael Schauwecker; two sisters, Geneva M. Watson and Gladys M. Clark; three brothers, Herman L. Duff, Lawrence E. Duff, and Elvis E. Duff.
The funeral for Mrs. Schauwecker will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms, Ill., with Pete Ryan and the Rev. Earnest Brown officiating. Interment will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery at Thebes, Ill.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to Olive Branch Methodist Church or Dodge Memorial Library, and will be accepted at the funeral home.
