Thursday, November 30, 2006
A proposed property tax increase for the Cape Girardeau Public Library will be the topic of conversation at First Friday Coffee this week. Library director Betty Martin will be the guest speaker.
The tax increase would fund a $9 million project that would double the size of the facility on Clark Avenue to 38,860 square feet. Voters will decide during a special election Feb. 6.
First Friday Coffee is sponsored by the Cape Girardeau Chamber of Commerce. The event will be Friday in the Concourse Room of the Show Me Center on North Sprigg Street. Doors open at 7 a.m. with the program beginning at 7:30 a.m.
